How to edit Sony camcorder video on Windows 7 and Mac 10.7 Lion

"Is the Sony HDR-CX110 Camcorder compatible with Windows XP? Every review and test video I have seen for this camcorder people are saying they edit with iMovie. I'm very interested in getting this camcorder, but I don't have a Mac. Is this camcorder compatible with Windows XP and will I still be able to have videos in full HD quality?”
