Clip/Merge/Edit AVCHD clips from JVC HM650 camcorder on Mac Lion OS

I am using JVC HM650 and have recorded dozens of short .m2ts files. I have transferred those files on my desktop, after connect it to my Mac. However, I am interested in editing those segments on Mac. I was told that Sony Vegas can support MTS files. But I run Mac OS. Finally, one of my friends recommended to an easy-to-use video editing program for Mac.
