"Video on canon vixia hf100 to mac (imovie version 8)?
Can someone please, please help me. I need a detailed (and simple) explanation on how to get my video on my canon to my mac and imovie. I've tried plugging it in and following all the directions but it shows up as a harddrive on my desktop (title: NO NAME) and imovie doesn't recognize the format when I try to import it.
Do i have to convert what I shot on my video camera to import it to imovie? What is the best program to do so?"
"Import with a Canon Vixia HF10 on a Mac?
Well, my friend and I are working on a project for video class. She says she plugs the camera into the mac, opens up iMovie '08, and then iMovie "unexpectedly quits." I had a look at the camera, and there are these .MTS files that do not open up. Can someone help us import our footage? What can we do to keep iMovie from quitting?"
For Mac guys, most Vixia camcorders record in HD M2TS file which is not supported by Mac player and editor. I.e. iMovie'11 doesn't support Canon HF M2TS for video stabilization or Mac with an Intel-based Core Duo processor limitation.
When you finish photography, the first thing you should do is transfer the Canon Camcorder MTS video to Mac for backup or playback. Follow the tips to easily backup your shooting.
1: Turn on your camcorder and make sure your camcorder is set to the right mode to import videos or photos.
2: Connect camcorder to Mac with USB cable(a 6 pin or 4 pin cable), insert smaller four-pin end of the FireWire cable into the the FireWire port of the camcorder and the the larger six pin end, and insert it into the FireWire port of your Mac.
3: Your Mac will automatically launch iMovie, So you can review your video or select "Import All", and make sure your camcorder is set to "Automatic".
Notes: Not all the models of Canon Vixia camcorder can be recognized by iMovie. Some of them are partially supported with Video stabilization limitations or jittery playback. Anyway, if you can not import to iMovie, there is a professional program designed for Canon Vixia camcorder users to transfer Canon Vixia M2TS video to mac.
